SpaceX designs and builds its reusable rockets and spacecraft in Hawthorne, California.
SpaceX’s mission control will be at its headquarters facility in Hawthorne, while launches will take place from Space Launch Complex-40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.
The Hawthorne facility was SpaceX’s headquarters until August 2024. However, the move to relocate SpaceX’s headquarters was seen as largely symbolic, at least in the short term, as the facility will remain to the company’s operations.
Musk said he’ll move the site to Texas, citing a new California law on transgender kids in public schools. Why it matters: SpaceX has been headquartered in Hawthorne since 2008. The company has grown to roughly 13,000 employees and was recently named the second most valuable startup in the world.
